Suffering Succatash! It's full of stars!

The VLT Survey Telescope (VST) has released it's first images of the southern sky. The VST is a  2.6-metre telescope, with the large 268-megapixel camera called the OmegaCAM.

Well I expect we shall be seeing a lot more pics in the future. Sure would like to get my mitts on the full resolution images, then I could partake in some pixel peeping

It is the largest telescope in the world and was designed to exclusively survey the sky in the visible light spectrum. Over the next few years the VST and its camera OmegaCAM will make several detailed surveys of the southern sky. All of the survey data will be made public.
