Hasselblad just released for sale a camera capable of producing 200MP image by shifting its 50MP sensor. I won't make you read any more it is yours for $44,600.02 CDN. Oh! That's for the body only and what a delicious body it is. I wonder if I can get fries with that?
Lets have Hasselblad explain. I'm swooning a little...I was just at Hasselblad where the H-System 80mm f2.8 is $2,465.
Medium format is not just a matter of pixels, I have heard the claim that a 5D is as good as a medium format and is the new medium format or some such nonsense. I digress...
The H4D-200MS camera uses a 50Mpix sensor mounted onto our patented symmetrical multi-shot frame, which can accurately position the sensor with accuracy, using piezo-electrical actuators. The camera then captures 6 shots, by moving the sensor 1 and ½ pixel at the time, to create a 200Mpix capture. This process eliminates the issues which single-shot interpolation can sometimes introduce, such as moiré and color rendering issues, thereby capturing the red, green and blue information in each individual pixel point and then combining these captures into one file.
I would die to take one these and case of lenses to and shoot some incoming winter storms. Well its a good goal to set but the in the meantime and always The best camera in the world is the one you have with you.
