I have been tooling around with 3D applications for..well..ever since there was 3D apps, I was a devoted 3D Studio Max tinkerer for years. I never managed to do anything brilliant; render times are painful, but I have learned a lot about the whole ball of wax. A while ago I picked up Cinema 4D, I always knew it was there but it was not the same deal a 3DSMAX; that has changed. I have not fired up Max since starting with C4D. I have fallen in love with C4D. So for my first little C4D offering I have the The Simple Floor Object.
The Simple Floor is a custom user data object that I made in C4D. It is made up of a floor surface and multiple shaders. You have a choice between a solid color, checkerboard, noise or marble. You have specularity and reflection controls as well as bump map tiles courtesy of the C4D tile shader. The object was born out of my need to learn Cinema 4D and to have a quick and dirty floor for the fast setup and render of objects. I have some modifications planned already and I have some other little gadgets it the works. So download it, give it a try and let me know what you think.
